Bio

Sonia is a Nuyorican visual artist born and raised in Bushwick, Brooklyn in New York City. As a child, she began drawing comics and creating her own worlds as an escape from the adversity present in her household. During high school, she was introduced to Fine Arts and utilized it as another way to pour her innermost feelings onto a two-dimensional format. Her current work primarily consists of realistic still life paintings and drawings which combine symbolism for identity, self-expression, nostalgia, and feelings of melancholy.

She has been published in UPPERCASE Issue #66 (July 2025), Arts to Hearts Magazine Issue #4 (under the name Chasity Colón, November 2023), and The Best of Acrylic: Winners of the AcrylicWorks 10 Art Competition (Artists Magazine special issue, September 2023). Sonia holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design. Outside of her usual visual arts projects, she enjoys jewelry design, textile arts, singing, reading, volunteering, and has a major interest in parkour and martial arts.
